HERTZ
HERTZ, a subsidiary of the global holding company HERTZ Inc. This is an American rental company with offices and representative offices in 145 countries around the world. HERTZ is headquartered in Park Ridge, New Jersey, USA. As of November 2012, HERTZ is becoming the second largest and largest rental company in the United States.
The company was founded in 1918 by Walter Jacobs, who started a car rental business with a dozen cars, the Ford Model T. Now the HERTZ fleet consists of cars produced by most world manufacturers, but the main part is still General Motors cars. The luxury category is represented in the park by such brands as: Mercedes, Infinity, Cadillac. Initially, due to its close relationship, the HERTZ rental fleet, at most rental stations, mainly consisted of Ford cars and its brands, such as Mazda, Volvo, Mercury and Lincoln and others, mainly Korean and Japanese.
In September 2006, HERTZ launches a project to create an environmentally friendly car fleet, the first cars to be purchased in this fleet are Toyota Prius, Ford Fusion, Buick La Cross, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. HERTZ then signs an agreement with Nissan, to acquire a large batch, within a few years, of a Nissan Leaf car for its American and some European rental locations. HERTZ also announced that it will purchase cars with electric and hybrid power plants from General Motors, Toyota and Mitsubishi.
In December 2008, HERTZ launches a global system of exchanging old cars for new ones, which started from cities such as Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid, New York, as well as at many university campuses around the world.
In November 2012, HERTZ acquired the Dollar-Thrifty rental company for $ 2.3 billion. The result of this transaction is the emerged network of car rental stations with 10,400 points of delivery of cars in more than 150 countries.
